A brave woman who suffers from Asperger’s Syndrome has this week uploaded a video of herself having an emotional episode, in an attempt to explain to people what living with the disease is really like.
In the uncomfortable footage, we see Danielle Jacobs getting visibly upset and begin initiating self-harm by hitting herself, before her service dog intervenes.
Sampson the Labrador, who Jacobs trained to “alert to depressive episodes and self harm”, takes the initiative to approach his distraught owner and stop her from hurting herself by putting his paws on her arms and nudging her with his head.
“This is what having Asperger’s is like… This really happened and it’s not easy to open myself and share what it’s like on a daily basis.”
The heartwarming original video has been viewed over 800,000 times.
