RUSSIA — Since the November 13th attacks in Paris, Russia has shown solidarity with France by sending them a puppy in honor of Diesel, the Belgian Malinois killed during a raid. Now, Russia is further exemplifying their support of police dogs by launching a new body armor designed to keep them safe. The “Nord body armour” consists of a two-part vest that will protect the dog’s neck and chest.

The vests were designed by the defense company Scientific Production Association of Special Materials and also include additional pieces that can be used to protect the dog’s legs and head. At first, the police dogs were not too keen on the vests. However, after some positive reinforcement, the police dogs eventually got used to them. One handler reported being able to get his dog suited up in about a minute now.

Hopefully the new armor will keep these working dogs much safer as they continue their important work.
