In Pinal County, Arizona, Deputy Daniel Campbell was on duty this past Sunday afternoon when he was flagged down by a concerned citizen on the side of the road. It appeared as though some inhumane person had thrown a young Rottweiler, trapped in a crate bound with chicken wire, into a canal located in San Tan Valley. Deputy Campbell immediately sprung into action and jumped into the muddy water to quickly rescue the Rottweiler and managed to pull him out just in the nick of time. County Animal Care and Control was soon on scene as well and were extremely thankful that Deputy Campbell was in the right place at the right time and managed to save the drowning dog.

The Rottweiler is thought to be around two years old and has a very friendly disposition, so it’s unclear why someone would “dispose” of him in such a cruel manner. He has no collar or any other form of identification, so unless someone comes forward, he will be available for adoption soon. In the meanwhile, officials are asking for any information that can lead to the arrest of a suspect in this case. People can reach the Sheriff’s Office at 520-866-5111 or Animal Control at 520-509-3555.
