When Kayla Wiggins, life enrichment director of the Tendercare of Westwood assisted living facility took a trip to the Kalamazoo, Michigan SPCA 9 months ago, it was “just to look”.
Well, we all know how well THAT turns out every single time.
Mia, a little ginger tabby, hopped right up onto her shoulders, and from that moment on, she became part of the family. She was adopted right away, and taken to her forever home, bringing companionship and laughter to the residents of the facility as a therapy cat. Kayla says it is the best decision they’ve ever made, and the facility has been so much brighter since Mia came to live there.
Mia recently spent her first Christmas there, and spends her days riding along on the backs of wheelchairs, walking along parallel bars with the patients as they do their therapy, or hitting objects away from the baskets are aiming at to improve their strength…while sitting in them, of course. 😉
Oh, and playing in the Christmas tree.
Here’s a video of Mia at the facility. What a great way to give people motivation and happiness! Cats for everyone!
