It’s that special time of year again! Your super cuddly, extra lovely pup has hit another yearly milestone! What better way to celebrate than to bake him or her an irresistible dog-friendly birthday cake. Who wouldn’t want a yummy treat on their special day?
Here are two recipes for dog-safe cakes – one being grain free.

DOG BIRTHDAY CAKE!
From Keeping My Cents
2-½ cups water
½ cup canned pumpkin
1 egg (slightly beaten)
½ teaspoon vanilla extract
¼ cup peanut butter (chunky)
3-½ cups whole wheat flour
½ cup oats
1 tablespoon baking powder
½ teaspoon cinnamon
Directions:
Preheat oven to 350 degrees. In a medium bowl, thoroughly mix water, pumpkin, egg, vanilla, and peanut butter. In a large bowl, combine flour, oats, baking powder, nutmeg, and cinnamon. Mix wet and dry ingredients together and stir well. Spoon into 2 6” greased cake tins. Bake for 35 to 40 minutes or until firm (but not too brown). Frost with a small amount of cream cheese or peanut butter.
Grain-Free Peanut Butter Apple Cake!
1 egg
3 Tablespoons peanut butter
1/2 apple, finely chopped
1/2 teaspoon baking powder
Directions:
Preheat oven to 350*. Mix all ingredients together until smooth. Grease a ramekin or a jumbo muffin tin. Fill with batter. Bake for 20 minutes, or until golden and a toothpick comes out clean. Let cool for a couple minutes, and then slide the cake out of the baking container. Cool on a cooling rack for 5 minutes before serving to your dog. You may frost with extra peanut butter or cream cheese, if desired.
