Including the family dog in the wedding day is becoming a big thing. Everyone wants to include their dog in some way on their special day because he’s apart of the family too! Our big day is coming up NEXT MONTH and we were trying to figure out how to include Simba in our special day. Do we let him walk down the aisle with someone or just include him in wedding pictures before or after the ceremony is over? Decisions, decisions. Below are ways that you can include your dog on your wedding day if you’re not sure how.

1. Include Your Dog in Your Engagement Photo Session
If you’re at the stage where you’ve just got engaged and are looking for ideas for your engagement photos then this should work for you! Take your dog with you to your engagement photo session and let him be in a couple of your photos with your fiancee! You can then show off these photos as your Save The Date or even put the photos in your guestbook to have at your wedding. This idea works well if you don’t want to have your dog actually at your wedding for various reasons like the venue just doesn’t allow dogs for example or your dog doesn’t like being around a bunch of people. He will still be there with you in spirit! Click here to see some of our engagement photos which Simba is included in!
2. Let Your Dog be a Groomsmen or Bridesmaid
If you don’t mind your dog actually being at your wedding there are defintely many ways to include him at your big day and here is one of them! Let your dog be a bridesmaid or a groomsmen and walk down the aisle. Too cute!
3. Let Your Dog Be a Flower Girl
Is your dog a diva? Put her in a cute doggie dress and let her prance down the aisle with your flower girls. Be careful though. Make sure your flowers are nontoxic if your dog is going to be around them!
4. Let Your Dog Be the Ring Bearer
Let your best friend carry the rings down the aisle. Your dog can wear a bow tie collar or a doggie tux. He will be totally adorable and be very special to your big day. Don’t worry…the dog isn’t going to carry the rings in his mouth! There are safe ways your dog can carry the rings. Your dog can carry the rings that are tied to a pillow very securely that is on his back for example. No worries!
5. Include Your Dog in Wedding Photos
If you don’t want your dog around during the ceremony or the reception because it might just be too much for him…you can still include him by having a dog sitter at your wedding and only including your dog to take part of the wedding photos. This way your dog is still there on your big day and is very much apart of it still. You will also have precious photos and memories.

In most of these scenarios, if not all, it is very important that you train your dog if he isn’t already. Even if he is trained, you should definitely practice your dog’s role in your wedding before your big day so he is very comfortable with everything. Also make sure your dog has someone to take care of him and keep him happy during all of the excitement. Congratulations! Enjoy your wedding day!
