Over 80 dogs were rescued in Kankakee, Ill. on April 7th, and now, many of them are getting a second chance.
Small breed dogs, including Chihuahua’s, Shih Tzu’s, and Yorkshire Terriers, were found in deplorable conditions, kept in cages, sitting in their own waste. Many of them suffered from urine burns, eye infections, and respiratory issues that went untreated for years. These dogs had never known human contact or life outside of their cages.
Now, 25 of the 81 badly abused pups are on their way to foster homes and possible adoptions. The rest are still receiving much needed medical care and evaluations.

If you are interested in fostering or adopting one of these dogs, please contact PAWS in Chicago. PAWS has also set up a Kankakee Rescue Fund to help rehabilitate and care for the dogs.
