This Thursday, April 30th is National Adopt-A-Shelter-Dog Day in North America. One of the ways we’re helping to raise awareness of this worthy cause is we’ve gotten together with our friends at Uber in Canada to deliver puppies from shelters right to people’s offices.
We thought it would be a great way to raise awareness across Canada and around the world of the need to find these dogs a forever home. As you likely know, Uber is the app that connects you with on-demand transportation. What you may not know is that in North America alone, of the 3.9 million dogs in shelters less than half are ever adopted.
We’re proud to be associated with Uber in this great effort and we hope that you will encourage friends to do their best to support their local shelters no matter where in the world they are.
So here’s how it will work for all of our Friends in Canada:
1. If you’re new to Uber, download the free app for iPhone, Android or Windows. (Plus, enter code “IWANTPUPPIES” you’ll get $20 off your first ride (or puppy play date)
2. If you already have Uber, just pop open your app on Thursday, April 30th between 11am & 3pm in Toronto, Ottawa, Montreal and Edmonton.
3. Request the “PUPPIES” option in your app. Please note: Puppies can only be delivered to offices.The cost is $30 and all proceeds go to the respective shelters.
4. Once the puppies arrive, you and your colleagues will get to enjoy 15 minutes of puppy cuteness! PRO TIP: Make sure to have an enclosed space ready for puppy play time.
5. Found your most valuable pup? All puppies are eligible for adoption!
*If you’re lucky enough to get puppies delivered to your office, please make sure your boss or building is going to be cool with the woofs and that no one in the area is allergic. Also, having a dedicated room for puppy playtime is preferred.

If you’re interested in adopting one of the pups you can speak to the shelter representative on-site. These cute little canines will be in very high demand, and availabilities will be limited, so order early! We will be working all day to make sure puppies come to play! PLEASE NOTE: Shelter dogs come in all ages and breeds, and dogs young and old will be visiting offices to raise awareness.
