Tilly the Beagle mix finally went home after two long years away from her family.
Tilly originally wandered from her caretakers, and was assumingly picked up by someone with no intentions on returning her. She was kept for nearly two years, only to be lost again, and was turned into Animal Care and Control. Her microchip was scanned for the first time, and Tilly’s family received the call they had been praying for.
Tilly was a gift to her eight year old owner, Phoenix, after her dad returned from military service in Afghanistan. Phoenix was heartbroken when Tilly disappeared, and her family never gave up hope. The family moved to Ogden, but remained followers of the Facebook group “Lost and Found Pets of Lexington, KY.” The group was notified of Tilly’s return.
“This is one of the best experiences I could ever be involved in,” said Christine Stoops, a fellow Facebook user. Christine drove with Tilly from Lexington to Salt Lake City, posting photos of the journey along the way, reuniting the dog with her loving family.
Donors, along with anonymous contributors, paid for the trip, making Tilly’s return home possible.
