TEXAS — Mike Minnick has embarked on an epic journey across the nation with his rescue dog Bixby (a 5-year-old mixed breed) to raise awareness and encourage support of animal rescues and shelters across the country.
Already crossing 31 states and 9,000 miles, the pair have garnered quite the fan base. Traveling on his bike, accompanied by a rubber chicken named Charlie, they just peddle, visiting sights and animal shelters along the way. Their overnight accommodations are often provided by strangers who are inspired by their undertaking.

Minnick adopted Bixby from a rescue in Texas, and after a few random road trips he realized that his best friend loved to travel and sightsee. Bixby says, “Dreams are like sticks…you just have to chase them!” Their dream was this journey, their goal was to find animals like Bixby furever homes.
Minnick is committed to getting the word out that there that many animals are waiting for someone to adopt them. He’ll often tweet out or share a photo on Facebook of a particular animal in need, hoping to give them that social media boost that might find them their home.
If you happen upon them in their travels, Minnick encourages you to say hello and pose for a picture with Bixby for their page. You can track their journey and follow their progress on their website www.wheresbixby.com , on Facebook, Twitter or Instagram.
