On Thursday morning, a fire next door spread to Bryce Goggin’s Brooklyn brownstone while he wasn’t home. However, his dog, Sonny, a rescued mutt, and cat, Butterscotch were. Luckily, firefighters arrived quickly and were able to rescue the two beloved pets from the blaze.
Both were unconscious when they were brought out, but EMS workers with the FDNY started administering oxygen to them immediately. Goggin was returning from an errand when he walked up to his apartment and saw the firetrucks. He was devastated when he saw his pets completely out of it, but sincerely touched by the efforts of the EMS workers. Sonny laid on the ground with an oxygen mask strapped to his snout, while EMS workers massaged his neck and throat in an effort to facilitate the air flowing for him.
Butterscotch was treated on top of a gurney. Both Sonny and Butterscotch eventually woke up, but Sonny took 45 minutes to pull out of his unconsciousness. However, as soon as he did, he was up and running around like nothing had happened. Everyone was happy to see him recover so well. The fire itself was put out in about 15 minutes, but is still being investigated. View the amazing photos from the rescue of these lucky pets here:
