In Canberra, Australia, a new world record has been attempted for the number of dogs wearing bandanas in one location with 770 dogs in attendance. The attempt took place during the annual fundraising Million Paws Walk. In total, over 1000 dogs showed up to take a walk around Lake Burley Griffin as they raised money for the RSPCA- The Royal Society For The Prevention Of Cruelty To Animals. The record substantially surpassed the previous record set last year by Canada’s Golden Rescue Group when 364 bandana wearing dogs showed up. However, this new record has yet to be officially verified by representatives of The Guinness World Record’s organization. During the walk there were a number of pooches participating who have been rescued by the RSPCA themselves. The 5-kilometre walk grows larger every year and takes place in various locations across the country. It is currently in its 21st year and this year the goal was to raise $400 000. With almost 45, 000 animals passing through the RSPCA every year, the success of the Million Paws Walk is vital for running the organization.
