Former MTV VJ, TV host, actor and pop-culture writer Dave Holmes has touched the hearts of many dog lovers, after his tribute for his deceased dog was published on Esquire on Monday the 7th. Holmes and his partner Ben Wise, adopted Junior when he was only a puppy and as Holmes expressed in his tribute, they “kept him alive for 10 years and 2 days.” Sadly, the Wheaten Terrier passed away Monday after a ruptured spleen and blood clots, led to complications during surgery that resulted in his death.
Throughout the tribute titled, “I Said Goodbye To My Best Friend Last Night,” Holmes remembers the good times and the bad times that him and Wise shared with their beloved dog. Holmes eloquently expresses exactly what it’s like having a furry pet, and outlines how him and Wise had initially bought Junior as a means to prepare them for children. As it turned out though, Junior became much like a child himself, and Holme’s detailed the striking resemblance that Junior bore to humans in his personality and his eyes.
The tribute was published just hours after Junior’s death and Holmes reveals that him and Wise were able to give Junior one last kiss on the head before he passed. Although Junior may not be physically in Holmes’ life anymore, he will always be in his heart. To read the entire touching tribute follow the link here.
