Meet Marshall – a dog who had a really, really bad day. Roaming free in Charleston, South Carolina, he reportedly climbed up a tree to chase after, what one can only assume was a squirrel. After slipping off one of the branches he found himself impaled on the tree, 15 feet in the air.
For 24 harrowing hours, Marshall cried and barked. He was in a remote swamp area and there was not a lot of hope for him. A man happened to be walking by and heard the dog’s pleas for help.
Charleston Animal Services were able to remove the poor dog from the tree and it was expected he would not survive. Thanks to Charleston Animal Society who offered to take Marshall in, they have been working around the clock to save his life. They were able to locate his owners, but the owners reportedly relinquished him into their custody.
The Charleston Animal Society reported on their Facebook yesterday:
“This boy had a really touch and go day! Two blood transfusions, antibiotics, surgery to remove dead tissue and now he is in an oxygen chamber to hopefully generate some healing! He needs prayers and love tonight! Please help us we have just over two hours left to donate!”
His status is still touch and go but you can help by donating to Charleston Animal Society that has a special fund for high medical needs dogs.
