This past Thursday, officials at Atlanta’s Hartsfield Jackson International Airport were alerted about a dog that was tied to a pole in a parking area. It seems that the poor pup was left there, abandoned by its former owner. She was sitting under a car, covered in dirt, and officials believe that she may have been there for hours before anyone cared enough to let them know. Khern Forde, the landside operations supervisor, was the first to reach her and saw she had a collar, but no tags or identification of any sort.
Forde noted that she appeared to be in great health, good spirits, and is probably a little over a year old. A K-9 unit with Atlanta Police Department (APD) arrived and the officers and Forde immediately started to play with the pup, who was quite happy to see them when they untied her. They decided to name her “Daily.” Forde ended up taking the pup home for the time being and noted that he had no interest in finding her original owner. In fact, he heeds a warning to them, “You had your time with her, you didn’t value her life because you left her at a parking deck. I don’t need to find you because I may look at you different. I may charge you.”
Forde already owns three other dogs, and would’ve happily kept Daily as well, but his girlfriend figured someone else might like to have such a great dog. And she was right, as one of the APD officers who responded also happened to fall in love with Daily and will be taking over as her new mom later this week. Congrats to both of them for finding each other!
