Some of the saddest stories involve sick dogs that are abandoned. It’s even more heartbreaking to find out that the animals were so sick they needed to have life changing surgery which could hinder their chances at finding a new home.
On March 10th, a boxer-mix was found abandoned and chained without food or water in a stairwell of a vacant building in Miami. Named Frances, the dog was in serious distress as he was underweight, covered in ticks and his eyes were bleeding. Clare Monera, co-owner of a construction company that was working next door, discovered the dog and frantically tried to get help.
Frances’s eye damage, most likely from a beating, was so severe she had to have both of her eyes removed. Although animal abuse and neglect is considered a crime, it is unlikely the police will be able to find the perpetrators seeing as the lot was vacant.
On a happier note, regardless of her lack of sight, Frances is a very happy and easy dog. She loves to nuzzle and still trusts other humans.
““She smiles from ear to ear. It’s almost like her eyes that are sewn shut are squinting when she smiles,” says Amy Roman, president and founder of 100+ Abandoned dogs of Everglades Florida, a nonprofit animal rescue organization that houses Frances.
Frances is now ready, and free, to find her forever home with a loving family that can help her and love her unconditionally through her disability.

Sorry for the dog who looks like a sweetie. Why is this article undated? Can’t tell if it’s current.
Same question? Has he/she been adopted? Is Francis a girl or boy, refers to both in story. Dont make adopting complicated.
