The cat cafe trend continues, only this time with a conscientious twist. Opening Friday in Montreal, Quebec, Cafe Venosa is North America’s first vegan cat cafe.
The cafe will be the place 4 cats from the Montreal SPCA temporarily call home. All the cats in the cafe are available for adoption. The first set of adoptable cats is Tarquin, Quantum, Celsius, and DCS Foyle. As each one of these lovable, frisky felines is adopted another kitty from the shelter will take their place.
Owner, Summer Geraghty, a passionate and active volunteer for the Montreal SPCA has made it her mission to find homes for these fabulous felines. The cafe, in fact, is named after her own 16 year old rescue cat Venosa; a tribute to the bond they share.
The cafe’s a great space to relax and enjoy a coffee and the company of cats. Everything on their menu is vegan, made without the use of any animal products and all their coffee is fair trade, and environmentally friendly.
Geraghty’s gone the extra mile when it comes to design making the space a showcase for the work of local artists. An artist herself Geraghty’s managed to blend her truest passions into one bright, colorful and comfortable space.
When asked about the space Geraghty said:
“I am most excited about trying to make a difference for the animal…A guilt-free, eco-cafe that exhibits art, supports local businesses and that re-homes cats is my version of a utopia.”
This cat cafe will no doubt be a success, and these first four fabulous felines (and all those that follow in their paw-steps) will most certainly be adopted into permanent places they’ll call home.
