NAPLES, Italy — A group of individuals sailing in the Gulf of Naples were in for a big surprise when they spotted something unusual in the water. Swimming towards their boat was none other than an abandoned puppy, struggling to stay afloat. The little Labrador pup was paddling with all of his might as he willed himself to keep his head above the rolling waves.

The Puppy’s owner, Mario Di Meglio, was bringing his new dog Noodle home with him when he fell overboard the ferry that he was on. Although Di Meglio alerted the ferry crew, they did not stop the boat as they presumed Noodle had already drowned. Fortunately, half an hour later, Noodle showed up in front of the sailors from the RYCC Savoia Club.
The sailing club’s director Massimiliano Cappo, who was on the boat at the time of the rescue, said that the puppy look exhausted as he “trembled and wept” for warmth and safety. The group managed to scoop the puppy of the water and console him, while calling upon a rescue boat to take him back to shore. Watch the whole incredible rescue in the video below.
