Your dog needs exercise just like you! Everyone wants to be healthy right? Even though your dog can’t talk I’m sure he wants to be healthy too! It’s quite easy to help your dog exercise. You can even exercise with your dog and make this a family affair. He’s begging for you to get off of the couch and turn off the TV and take him on a nice long walk in the park. Ready? Let’s get started!
1. Walk Your Dog
Grab that leash and let’s get going! Take your dog for a nice walk around a couple of blocks or enjoy the scenery at the park. Your dog will love seeing the sights and smelling the lovely Spring flowers. You can do this daily of course as long as the weather is okay. Easy peasy right? Enjoy your walk!
2. Play Fetch
Go outside and throw the ball (or whatever you play fetch with) around some. Make a fun game out of it. See how many times your dog can catch the object. Let your dog run like the wind and bring the object back to you as fast as he can. Dogs love a good game of fetch and it sure gives them some great exercise.
3. Play Date
Invite your friend and their dog over to play outside. Let your dogs play with each other and run around. Throw the frisbee and see who can jump the highest. Throw the ball around and see who gets it first. Dogs always seem to have a great time playing with each other and running around. Not only will your dog be getting exercise, but he’ll be socializing with another dog too…or dogs! Make it a play date exercise party! Motivate each other to stay fit. You can do it!
4. Tag You’re It
You know the game of tag right? Well, this won’t exactly be tag unless you train your dog to tag you with his paw and then run away from you! You can still run around with your dog though 🙂 Let your dog chase you or you can chase your dog. Just run or jog around the yard and enjoy each other.
5. Go for a Swim
It’s finally Spring and Summer isn’t too far away! How about a refreshing swim in the pool? Ahhh, yes! Take your dog for a swim! Go to a pool or go to the beach, but be careful of course and keep an eye on your dog. Now go on and doggie paddle. Let me see your best doggie stroke!
Whew! That was a work out! Make sure you always have water handy for your dog while exercising and take breaks too!
