There are a multitude of reasons for a dog to be particularly stinky, from coat and skin type to allergies, poor diet and hygiene. As it turns out, not all dogs’ ability to produce scent is the same. Between all of the different types of breeds, there are certain dogs that are more inclined to leave an odour behind. The Basenji is one of the cleanest dog breeds that produces little to no odour due to its short coat that does not trap any smells. An additional perk to this breed is that it rarely barks but instead creates a noise that sounds like a yodel.
2. bichon Frisé
The Bichon Frisé is a non-shedding dog, which has naturally clean skin. Unlike other dogs that don’t shed, their skin has no excessive wax build-up that could produce an odour.
The Maltese is so small that it can be easily washed but they also have no excessive folds on their skin that can trap smell and are a non-shedding dog. They are also not inclined to wax buildup on their skin.
The poodle has a reputation for being a hypoallergenic dog, meaning it won’t cause allergies. Because of this it also produces very little doggy odour.
The Dalmatian’s short and dense coat protects it from the majority of doggy odour. This breed makes for a great active companion dog.
All Schnauzers have the same coat-type regardless of their size, which lacks the traditional doggy odour smell.
7. Portugese WATER DOG
The Portuguese Water Dog has a very thin, curly coat that isn’t prone to trapping dog smell. Of course, it is important to note that proper care and grooming is the surest way to ensure that your dog doesn’t smell.
