It’s not just humans that fight in wars, there are records of dogs fighting as far back as the 7th century B.C. Today when we remember those who have sacrificed for us, don’t forget the four legged soldiers.
Pal, later renamed Gander saved his unit many times. He defended their unit from a surprise attack in the dark of night and saved an injured group of men from being run down by Japanese troops.

Some are there just to make you smile.
- Some are there just to make you smile.
- They are your brothers since training, watching your back.
- They are there to protect you from the bad guys.
- Sergeant Shanks and Haus working together at an undisclosed location in Southwest Asia.
- They’re there through the ups and downs.
- Near or far. They’ve got you covered.
- They make your day better.
- They keep you safe.
- It only takes a bit of compassion to show how much you care. This dog was following the unit for several miles until a marine picked up the puppy and put it his pouch.
- And they’ll be there whenever you need them.
- Staff Sgt. Philip Mendoza pets his military working dog, Rico.
- Lucca, a military hero dog lost her leg from a roadside bomb in Afghanistan saved a platoon of U.S. Marines.
Because a dog’s love goes beyond duty. Dogs always remember.
Today, remember all those who sacrificed for their nation. Human or not.
