CALIFORNIA – An abandoned Chihuahua who was found living inside a hollow tree in a wooded part of California has finally got the happy ending she deserves.
As 3MillionDogs previously reported, ‘Boo’ was so afraid of humans by the time her rescuers came that she took two hours to coax out of the safety of her tree, where she was thought to have been living for some time.
Animal control officer, Shirley Zindler, was so appalled by the case of neglect that she took it upon herself to foster Boo, and encourage her to trust humans again, until a forever home could be found.
Zindler spoke of Boo’s recovery:
“She began to greet me with a happy dance when I came home and the day I got her first tail wag and first tentative kisses was a milestone. She started following me around the house wanting to be near but she still had a long way to go.”
Having brought her confidence up to a level where Zindler felt she could cope with human interaction, Boo has now been officially adopted by a new loving family who have pledged to take care of her, forever.
Zindler has kept a close eye on Boo’s progress and is delighted with how well she’s settling in with her new family.
