It happened in Delaware and it started in a rescue group called Faithful Friends Society that received three cats with different eye conditions. This was causing them so many problems that the best solution for the three of them was to have their eyes removed.
Helen, the oldest one was suffering from glaucoma and Bruce and Willis, two younger siblings had very bad infections. After the surgeries, sadly, none of the three cats was adjusting to the loss of their sight and they were all in distress.

And so a volunteer of the rescue group stepped in. Her name is Sherry Stewart and she has fostered more than 60 dogs and 22 cats over the three years she’s been a volunteer there. She was definitely a promising option for the blind cats’ recovery.
But it was not properly Stewart who accomplished the cat’s adjustment. This actually happened thanks to a couple of pit bulls that sensed that the cats needed some healing power and gave it to them.

One of them, Alfie – the gray one – was discovered in 2012 locked and almost starved to death. Because of his condition he was almost euthanized, but Sherry decided to take him in and take care of him. And now he is even a pet therapy dog in a children’s hospital. The other one, Frankie – the white one – is also a rescue who was suffering from a terrible case of mange.
In a way, both pit bulls once received the love and compassion that now the cats needed. And instinctively they provided that to them.

Helen is the one that has transitioned the best to being blind, and not just thanks to the pit bulls but to another foster cat that was living with Sherry named Hudbell.
It is amazing how animals can sense when someone needs some care and how can they simply provide it. The three cats are still looking for their forever homes but Bruce and Willis need to be adopted together, since for them the process has been more difficult.
