Everyone deserves a second chance and that includes senior dogs. There are so many cases in which humans are told that their dogs should be euthanized but the humans decided to fight some more and the dogs still lived a full life.
This is one of those cases. Scrappy was told two years ago that he only had a couple of weeks to live and in August, he turned 15 years old.

His human, Carlie Anderson – who volunteers as the medical coordinator for Central Florida Pug Rescue – took her own pugs to the vet one day without imagining she will return home with a new elderly pug: Scrappy. It was at the vet when a man told her about an ill pug he had at home and after Carlie offered to help and the man went for the dog, she ended up adopting him right on the spot.
But indeed Scrappy was very ill and suffered from many issues like fungal skin infections, dental damage, fleas, hookworms, an injured right shoulder and damage to his back legs.

The doctors proposed to euthanize him but Carlie saw in Scrappy’s eyes he was asking for help, so she decided to fight. And good that she did because after dental work, several visits to the vet and a lot of love, he pulled through.
The other dogs in Carlie’s house were extremely helpful. It is always incredible to see how animals sense when someone is in need and they provide the best care. According to Carlie they licked him, cuddled with him and gave him a loving healing environment.
And now Scrappy is doing great. He is a happy dog with a bucket list and a human committed to give him the best last years of his life.

For his 15th birthday, Carlie took him shopping, made a card for his friends at Privilege Critters Animal Hospital, had a personalized pizza made for him by the owner of the place and went to Hooters. He really had a great day and we hope so many more like those will come.
