SACRAMENTO, Calif. — A sick and starving Husky has made an incredible transformation in only a month after she was rescued from the side of the road in Sacramento.
In early December, Front Street Animal Shelter received a Husky who was in terrible shape. Not only did she have a terrible case of mange, she was emaciated and starving. Even though she had a kind and gentle demeanor, it was clear that no one had wanted to give this brave girl a chance.
The shelter named her Sugar.
After visiting with a veterinarian and becoming healthy enough to settle into a lovely foster home, Sugar became fast friends with a little Chihuahua named Piel. Piel was also in recovery after suffering from burns.
Sugar hit a few bumps in her road to recovery when it was discovered that she was allergic to her medication and was suffering from vertigo. Regardless, she kept in good spirits and took lots of time to relax with her foster family.
By Christmas, Sugar was on a new medication that didn’t give her any adverse side-effects and even got to experience some wonderful holiday cheer.
Now that the new year is here, Sugar wanted to pay a visit to the Front Street Animal Shelter to show them just how far she had come. The once frail and mange-ridden dog was now growing new fur!
Although Sugar hasn’t finished her journey, it’s amazing how much a little love and attention can go.
