Thirty-six Golden Retrievers have been saved this week in what is thought to be the largest international rescue of the breed.
Once considered a status symbol in Turkey – the pups were rescued from capital city Istanbul – Golden Retrievers are now considered out of fashion, resulting in their beautiful breed being abandoned by heartless owners on a large scale.
Luckily for these particular thirty-six pups, US and Turkish animal rescue teams worked together in order to fly them safely to Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport this weekend, due to extreme overcrowding on the Istanbul shelter.
The pups are now spending some time at Pet Lodge in order to adjust before they are adopted by new loving owners.
