This is an inspiring story about generosity that will hopefully create an echo and make you want to help someone somewhere.
Kevin Baumgartner from Saskatoon, Saskatchewan Canada was on a break from work one day and decided to go for a coffee. Downtown he saw a man and his dog lifting his paws from the cold ground. Every now and then the man put a blanket for his dog to stand in and warm himself up.
Instead of just passing them by, he approached the man and started talking with him about his life and about his dog. It turned out the dog had some old boots but they eventually get worn out and he had no money to get him a new pair. So Kevin decided to help and went to Pet Planet to get him an excellent pair of boots and a bag of treats. And he continued his way.
After he posted it on Facebook, the story went immediately viral and he got over 18,000 likes and it was shared over 4,000 times. People all over were touched by this act and started asking how they could help.
So he tracked the man down and went looking for him. He found out his name is Harlan and that he lives in a camper with his dog, Onyx – a 3-year old Labrador cross. They live day to day just trying to stay warm and fed. For Kevin it was the first time he saw someone struggling with poverty so close and he just felt like doing something for them.

So he fixed his camper, bought him warm clothes, a new heater and a microwave so he could have warm food. He also got Onyx registered and licensed.
Kevin started a Facebook for Harlan and Onyx and continues to keep us up to date with how they are doing. He still continues to help them through their journey and provide them with resources.
