Scout, a 2 year old Pit Bull mix, weighed only 29 pounds when found. Found covered in his own excrement, he could hardly walk or stand. The meager steps he took resulted in him falling, his jaw hitting the floor. Scout’s body was adorned with ulcers, sores and burns. Scout was on the brink of death.
Rescue Dogs Rock saved Scout 17 days ago from the New York City Animal Care and Control facility. He required urgent care and medical attention, and they’re seeing to it that he gets it.
Since being in their care Scout gained 5 pounds in a week. Though he’s still quite a ways from the 75 pounds he should weigh, he’s now able to stand, is walking on his own and his skin condition is improving.
According to an update Monday:
“Today is Day 17 at the vet! Scout is definitely improving and walking a lot better!!! Please don’t forget about Scout, he still needs you!”
Rescue Dogs Rock has set up a GoFundMe page for Scout as his veterinary expenses tremendous. They’ve set a goal of $10,000, and are just shy of reaching it. In 14 days with the generosity of 295 people Scout’s fund sits at just shy of $8,400.
Despite this horrendous ordeal Scout is an incredibly sweet, loving guy. The videos below track Scout’s progress and truly show Scout’s sweet soul.
