In Omaha, Nebraska a police officer was called to deal with a dog in traffic.
Officer Obrecht with one of the dogs
Getting the dog back to its yard with his buddy wasn’t much of a challenge, however it was too cold to leave the dogs outside. There was nobody home to open the door, so he checked on them throughout his shift.
After his shift, he drove by the address again, the dogs were still outside. Being the upstanding gentleman he is, he invited the two dogs into his car to wait in the warmth until someone could let them inside.
Remember, when it’s too cold for you outside, it’s too cold for your pet. These dogs were lucky that Officer Obrecht was there to help; like the Omaha PD says: don’t leave your pets out in the cold!
Officer Obrecht may have saved their lives; it’s great to see people in the public service leading by example.
