Morgan Bogle has been searching for her dog, Sugar, since February and is now offering a $10,000 reward. She recently filed a civil lawsuit against Tommy Doerr, her dog-walker/care-taker, alleging that he had traded/sold the dog for drug money. According to the court papers, officers found him in possession of what was thought to be PCP.
Sugar vanished February 23 after Doerr said he had an “unexplained psychotic episode.” He says he doesn’t have any recollection of what happened to Sugar or where she might be. Bogle reached out at all levels of the social media, mostly Facebook and Twitter, to use the hashtag #FindSugarNYC to find her pup. Her hopes to find Sugar alive, however, are significantly diminishing.
And according to the court documents Morgan believes that:
“her best friend and beloved pet was sold by Doerr to be used in connection with dog-fighting or traded for controlled substances.”
Bogle would like a judge to order the dog returned or have Doerr pay $10,000 in damages. Doerr’s lawyer maintains these allegations to be false and insists that his client’s drug tests were negative. Doerr is now counter-suing Bogle for defamation.
Doerr was left responsible to care for Sugar while Bogle was on a business trip. He’d been her dog-walker for three years without any incidents, so, she’d entrusted him to care for her beloved dog while she traveled. Their agreement was for Sugar to stay at his apartment for the duration of her trip.
Bogle received a text message from a neighbor, while she was away, indicating that things were array, something wasn’t right. Doerr was at her door screaming, cursing and kicking, and acting in a very bizarre and concerning manner.
Bogle requested that a friend check up on her home, and report back with her findings. Her friend found Doerr hiding behind a trash can at the rear of the building. Police were then called and Doerr ended up at Bellevue Medical. At this time Doerr has not been charged by police.
Bogle immediately flew home and though Doerr did give her permission to go into his residence to get Sugar, Sugar wasn’t there. Since then, she’s been absolutely desperate to locate her missing dog.
