SWINDON, United Kingdom — Despite the efforts of animal rights activists, Pit Bulls continue to be discriminated against everyday just because of their breed, and no matter what their history is. Now one man is struggling to save his dog Teddy, off death row, after he was confiscated from him on the presumption that he would one day attack. The owner of the dog, Tom Hook, is now doing all that he can to save Teddy, who may not even be a Pit Bull to begin with but is being judged on appearance alone. Teddy was seized from Hook on February 5th and the man is now fighting with all his might to save his dog and bring him home.
Under British law, Teddy was confiscated from Hook, because there is a four-year-old child living under the same roof as him. The court believes that regardless of Teddy’s gentle history, it is unsafe to have a dog like him living with a toddler. However, Hook reveals that Teddy and his daughter are the best of friends and that she is equally as devastated that the dog has been taken away.
Hook revealed to the court that he bought Teddy at 11-weeks-old with the belief that he was an American Bulldog, which is a legal breed to have in his area. However, authorities believe that Teddy is a Pit Bull and have kept him in a kennel while his fate is being decided. Although the court has ordered a destruction order for Teddy, Hook plans to fight it for as long as he needs to, in order to get Teddy back.
