HAREFIELD, United Kingdom — Although this Staffie was given up by her family and is in the care of the Dogs Trust, that doesn’t stop her from showing off her beautiful smile to anyone and everyone that gets to meet her.
Belle is a 10-year-old Staffy-mix who beams with happiness and wiggles her whole body in excitement. She was handed over to the Dogs Trust in Harefield after her owners of six years couldn’t care for her anymore.
Richard Moore, manager of the Trust’s center in Harefield, says that over the 10,000 dogs that have come into his care none have had the happy and smiley nature that Belle has.
“She gets so happy when she meets someone. Not only does she let out a beaming smile but she has this great little jig that she does. She doesn’t just jig her tail but she jigs her whole body, it’s brilliant,” Moore said to the Daily Mail UK.
Moore goes on to explain that although many dogs look like they are smiling, it is only because of the shape of their face. He believes that in Belle’s case, she truly knows how to smile.
“Certainly some dogs ‘smile’ at us on a regular occasion, although in many cases an apparent smile is actually an ‘appeasement’ behavior — in other words, the dog is saying ‘I’m a little bit unsure about what’s going on.’ But in Belle’s case, she just can’t help ‘pulling a face’ when she gets excited about seeing humans – and being a Staffy, her muscular jaws mean the sides of her mouth are drawn out, giving her a winning smile every time,” Moore said.
Belle is ready for her new home with a family that will smile at her and give her as much love as she emits from every part of her body. You can visit her webpage at the Dogs Trust.
