Libby is one lucky lady! And she’s a fine example all the great virtues found in a breed that are too often painted with damaging brush.
This 4 year old pit bull was the lone puppy to survive after all her siblings were euthanized at a Texas shelter. Her first savior was Marcia Poitter of Operation Pets Alive. Despite knowing that pit bulls are a difficult breed to place Poitter could not bear to leave Libby behind.
Her 3 year commitment to fostering this intelligent, high energy, smiling, thriving young girl has paid off! Her second saviour, Debra Guajardo, a lawyer and staunch advocate of all the goodness that pit bulls have to offer. Guajardo saw something in Libby, something special, and that led her to contact Universal K9, an organization that has to date rescue hundred of shelter dogs, giving them a new lease on life, investing the time and funds it takes to train them for work in law enforcement.
Today, Libby has found her furever home, and adds a new claim to fame to her ‘pawsume’. She’s well on her way to becoming a narcotics K9 detection dog, living with her partner Jesse Bullinger when she’s off the clock. And according to Bullinger, they’re “a match made in heaven”.
