BURLESON, Texas — A family has been reunited with the Golden Retriever they selflessly gave up as a puppy over ten years ago. The family thought they were doing a good deed by giving up the dog so that she could be used as a service dog.
Brad Galbreath and his wife Courtney knew that when they got the dog named Paris, she was special— so smart that they worked with a local trainer to have her certified as a therapy dog. This meant placing her with a different family, one who at the time needed her more than they did. When they gave up the dog they never expected to get her back.

Up until last week, they always wondered where Paris was and how she was doing. Galbreath says the dog was like their first child. Then they got a call from the Texas SPCA and Galbreath says it was a big shock not having heard her name in a decade.
Paris was one of 72 animals taken from an Ellis County woman’s home, 20 other animals were found dead on the property. The woman now faces a misdemeanor cruelty to animals charge.
When the SPCA brought the Golden Retriever in, they found her microchipped and linked her back to Galbreath and his wife. He says, “she had the same exact face, just a little bit greyer as we all are.”

It’s like the dog never left. She’s still the same happy and sweet dog she was as a puppy, and now she has some new friends to play with.
The couple didn’t expect to see her again. They kept all the pictures of her, her collars, even her favorite jersey. Paris is now enjoying a good life, back where she belongs with her original owners, in a loving home where she will spend the rest of her days.
