The sadness of losing a pet and the joy of finding it again are universal. No matter where you are from, if you’re a dog owner who loves his/her pet, the satisfaction of reuniting with your dog after they go missing is priceless.
This story happened in Taiwan in January of 2014. But these stories never expire and never stop touching hearts.
In a city called Zhongli District, a woman went to the drugstore and left her dog waiting for her at the entrance. It is apparently very common in Taiwan for dog owners to take their dogs on scooters without a leash. The family had been doing it for 16 years and nothing ever happened— until that day. While the dog was waiting outside the drugstore, someone started some fireworks less than a block away and that scared the dog and made her run away.
She lives five minutes from the store, but instead of walking home, she walked many more miles in the opposite direction. She was missing for six days until someone called them to say their dog was there. There were some friends of the woman that live in another city. The dog had walked all the way there, probably looking for a familiar place.
This little senior dog, by the way, is called Xiao Mei, which means “little beauty.” By the time she was found, she had lost some weight. The husband of the woman decided to record the moment he recovered their precious lost dog.
Try to ignore the “baby talk“ of the guy and focus on the happiness of the dog when she sees her human. That is priceless. It just proves how much they miss us when we’re gone.
