NORTH CHARLESTON, S.C. — Caitlyn has had some pretty great dates since she was saved by the Charleston Animal Society in May. Her latest, might just be her greatest thus far, none other than rock star Rick Springfield.
When shelter volunteer, Stephanie Miller, heard that Springfield was going to be in Charleston to perform, she reached out inquiring whether he might like to meet one of the world’s most famous canines. Springfield, an avid animal lover, jumped at the chance to meet her.
Caitlyn, who will forever bear the scars of having her snout taped shut back in May has become the face for rescued animals everywhere. When she was first found, it was uncertain whether she would survive. Today, she serves as an ambassador for abused and abandoned animals everywhere.
Together with her handler, Caitlyn got to meet the rocker backstage. They posed for some photographs, and of course Caitlyn received a back scratch or two. Shelter spokesperson Kay Hyman was surprised with how quickly Caitlyn took to Springfield saying, “I was so amazed at how much she loved him”. And it didn’t take long for this sweet girl to capture his heart.
Following their meeting Springfield took to social media to express his thoughts on this remarkable dog. His post saw over 20,000 shares. Hyman was thrilled with the time the pair spent together, saying “it means is more recognition for the mission we have, which is to prevent cruelty.”
