Omani Paws is a dog rescue group based in Muscat, Oman (a neighbouring country to Saudi Arabia) that works to rescue, home, provide medical care, document cruelty, educate people and spay/neuter stray cats and dogs. The group states that in Oman the normal method of population control in Oman is for Police to shoot strays, and they are working hard to save them instead.
They created this video to explain and show how people in Oman mistreat these poor animals. It is sad to see the abuse but it is ultimately an inspiring video because of all the cats and dogs that they have managed to rescue.
WARNING: this video contains some upsetting imagery and photos of abused animals
Since the people in Oman aren’t as educated about pet care there are too many animals and not enough homes for them. Omani has partnered with animal rescue organizations overseas and have managed to find homes for many of their dogs in Europe! They just have to get these pups flown to their new homes, and have started a crowdsourced fundraiser to help them get these dogs into forever homes. This fundraiser is specifically for flying pets to their new homes and their goal is £3,000, so any little bit helps!
They also have a page for general donations as well, which you can find and donate to here.
Here are some heartwarming before and after photos of some of the dogs that are now ready for adoption and who need to now fly out to safe zones in Europe.

- This is MIssy who was found alive, but with a bullet in her neck
- She is now recovered and happy, so pay no mind to the crumb on her upper lip, she just loves snacks!
- This is little baby Buddha the day he was rescued. He was starving, covered in ticks and was close to dying. The poor little guy was too weak to hold his head up
- This is Buddha now! He is a happy healthy pup and look at those ears!
- Gracie was one of the most heart wrenching but amazing rescues. She was found with 11 bullets in her body, as shooting animals is encouraged in Oman.
- After years of neglect and torture Gracie has finally been saved and is doing really well. She’s ready to be adopted!
- Poor Amber’s tail was in bad shape the day she was rescued and it had to be amputated…
- But she doesn’t seem to mind now that she’s recovered
- When he was first brought in Andrew was skinny and skittish and afraid of people and sudden movements
- But thanks to Omani Paws he is loving life and even likes car rides now
