Brandon and Aimie Terry were slightly surprised recently. Their dog, a three year old Great Dane named Snowy was pregnant, and the puppies were expected any day now.
Proud parents, Duke and Snowy.
Brandon was working out in the yard when he heard an odd noise, he went to investigate and found the first little puppy.
When they finally came, they wouldn’t stop. 19 in total. That’s 18 Great Danes plus another one. Don’t forget their original pup too, which brings them up to 20 dogs. The puppies are now 3 weeks old.
They were expecting a litter of 8 or so, Great Danes usually have around 8 puppies. They took Snowy to the vet and were able to spot 15 spines in the X-ray. Already almost double what they expected.
The owner said he was preparing for the loss that often comes when a runt dies, what he experienced was quite the opposite. For one thing he got 19 puppies, so that was a sizable shock to begin with, whats more remarkable is that all 19 of them are healthy and doing great.
The current record for largest litter of puppies belongs to a Neapolitan Mastiff from the UK. This dog birthed 21 puppies in 2004.
Brandon quit his full time job to work part time to care for the puppies until they find homes for them. Aimie is currently a full time student so her hands are already full.
They are already parents of their own to two daughters.
