If one thing is for sure, it’s that Jamie Bailey has secured himself a place in heaven recently. The charitable 36-year-old from London, England, has vowed to provide dog walking services totally free of charge to those in need, in order to prevent them having to give away their dogs.
The idea first came to Bailey when he witnessed first-hand the distress caused to his terminally ill Grandmother when she was forced to put her dog up for adoption, due to her failing health. Despite great help from charities, there just was not enough resource for them to look after her dog as well.
“People who have had dogs love them like – or more – than members of their family. I know it would be absolutely heartbreaking to lose them… The bereavement of losing your animal on top of an illness, when you are going through the toughest time ever, is huge.”
It was at that point, six months ago, that Bailey made the decision to give up his day job in Luxury Fashion, and start up a dog walking business called ‘Citidog’. The business is currently working with local charities to identify and approach those who are at the point of not being able to exercise their dog themselves, and offer the service free of charge.
