Poncho was a baby opossum when he was found on the side of the road, clinging to his mother after she had been hit by a car. The little opossum was all alone and unlikely to survive. With some veterinary care, Poncho was nursed back to health, but he was still without his mother. That is until Hantu, a white German Shepherd, came along.
Hantu, who had no pups of her own, quickly bonded and became inseparable. Even now that Poncho is grown, Hantu will rarely go on her walks without her marsupial friend.
The two live together at the Rare Species Fund, where they help to inspire a greater public appreciation for wildlife.
