DENVER — An eight-month-old German Shepherd puppy was rescued by good-hearted strangers this past weekend after he was found at the side of the road with his muzzle and legs bound with white tape.
Carl Allen was driving to a car dealership when he couldn’t help but notice a dog standing at the side of the road. The first thing he saw was the white tape that held the dog’s mouth shut.
“The dog was standing still and we just saw the white tape on the mouth and I said ‘is that a dog with its mouth taped shut?’ ” Allen said.
He couldn’t believe what he was seeing. He immediately pulled over. The eight-month old German Shepherd was frightened by the help and tried to get away. Unfortunately, his legs had also been taped and he couldn’t escape.
“The dog started urinating on itself it was so terrified. We just kept trying to pet it and tell it that everything was ok, that we’re just trying to help you,” Allen said.
Allen and two cyclists worked together in order to free the dog from the tape.
Allen hopes that the whoever abandoned this dog will be held accountable.
“I hope karma comes back around and gets them good. They need to go to jail,” he said.
As for the puppy, he will be held for five days and then turned over to a local rescue so that he can start a new life, free of abuse, with a new and loving family.
