Toronto artist Nicole Simone started her series Redemption Dogs this
year. The photo series aims to promote awareness of the many happy
endings that happen when rescue dogs adopt their humans.
She compares it to Humans Of New York but with rescue dogs. “It’s all
about getting a second chance, and for some of the dogs a last
chance.” Simone says the series have a soft spot for pitbulls, abused
dogs and dogs who have been adopted in the last years, and sometimes
months, of their lives.
Each photo is accompanied with a story of not only how the adoption
came to be but also on how the dogs have affected their human’s life.
Simone photographs twice a week in Toronto, Canada, often finding
unique or colorful landscapes for her canine models and their humans.
She has expanded her series to other cities, including a shoot in New
York City on November 21st and 22nd. Her goal is to show the global
story of not only the importance of rescuing dogs but also the happily
