A blind dog named Kellar has become an internet sensation this month when a video of him playing fetch using just his owner’s commands went viral.
Over 1.2 million people have watched the original, which shows the happy English springer spaniel racing around after his toy duck.
Kellar’s owner originally trained the dog, who has been blind from birth, using high and low pitched sounds to let him know when he was getting closer or further away from the toy.
His owner said:
“Hopefully sharing Kellar’s story will encourage people to think about a special needs pet. They have so much to give back to us, if someone gives them a chance.”
Deteriorating eyesight is something which affects many dogs, especially seniors. If you have any concerns about your dog’s vision it is advisable to see a veterinarian as soon as possible.
