SALINAS, Calif. — Eight-week-old Pierre might be little, but he’s filled the gigantic voids left in the hearts of the Bussell family after they lost their Cocker Spaniel, Rocky, in a tragic fire.
Rocky had become a Bussell back in April from the Monterey County SPCA. The 5-month-old puppy was adored by all, bringing so much love and happiness to the family. When the Bussells went on a brief holiday, they left Rocky in the care of the Home Away From Home Pet Spa. Unfortunately, just after they’d left, there was a fire and 15 dogs perished, including their beloved Rocky. The Bussells were devastated, and not a day has gone by that their thoughts haven’t been with the dog they lost.
When the family heard of Pierre’s story, they realized they were ready to open their home and hearts again to a new dog. Pierre was left at the shelter by a woman who claimed she’d found him abandoned and was unable to find him a home. This tale was found to be completely fabricated, and Pierre was placed up for adoption by the Monterey County SPCA.
The Bussells went to meet Pierre and it was love at first sight. They were happy to welcome this fun-loving, frisky puppy into their home. Jeremy Bussell said, “It’s a bittersweet day for us, but we’re very happy to bring another dog home.” Undoubtedly, little Pierre is going to be well-loved and quite content with his new family.
