We all love enjoying nature with our dogs, but sometimes there are risks we can’t control. Whether it’s wild animals or another dog, here are 9 things you need to do to save your dog’s life during an attack.

- Stay Calm. You can’t think straight if you are panicking. Remember you and your dog will get through this, but you have to stay calm to help each other
- Know Your Surroundings. Not every situation is appropriate for every dog. Busy dog parks can be a nightmare for a small or insecure dog. Know the right areas for your dog. If there are areas that tend to have stray or farm dogs, avoid them

- Don’t Argue With The Owner. If the dog is with it’s owner, don’t start a fight with the owner. Get the dogs under control first and foremost. If your dog is critically injured get them to the vet. The other person should exchange info with you, if they take off inform animal control and police of the incident
- Find Higher Ground. If the dog won’t relent and an owner isn’t present, find a safe spot. Climb a tree, hide in a car or knock on someones door for help. Getting out the situation is the only way to end it.
