On Wednesday, 22 dogs were rescued from a high-kill shelter in New Mexico and flown to safety in Colorado. This incredible rescue was a joint collaboration by Dog Is My CoPilot and From Forgotten to Forever. Both organizations are committed to animal rescue across the country.
The high-kill shelter in New Mexico allows only seven days for dogs to be adopted and three days for cats before they put the animals down. Jennifer O’Connor, the organizer of this mass rescue says that after those seven days, if they are not adopted, no matter what the age, they are euthanized. She adds that the animals in this shelter also receive no sort of medical treatment.
Upon landing in Colorado, several local Colorado shelters, including iResQ, Sunshine Canyon Dog Rescue, Denver Dachshunds, Rottie Rescue, and Herding Dogs of Wyoming, amongst others, were there to take their new charges.
