The sun is shining and warmer temperatures are finally here and with warmer weather comes outdoor market season! Flea, Farmer’s, Artisan, and Antique markets are popping up all over and provide a great opportunity for you to get out with your dog and get some fresh air. Remember, it’s important to always check in advance if dogs are allowed, so that your poor pup doesn’t end up having to sit in the car, but I have found almost all that I’ve visited to be dog-friendly. This past weekend, I went to the Clover Market in the suburbs of Philadelphia, where I was absolutely overwhelmed by how many dogs were there (see 8 Confessions of a Crazy Dog Lady)! Here are 6 dogs you may just be lucky enough to find at your local outdoor market!
1. The Social Butterfly
Buddy’s owner told me that this was the best couple of hours he’d had in a while, because of all of the attention he was receiving. His happy face tells you how much he adored getting pet and wagging his tail for everyone! If your dog isn’t quite as socialized as Buddy, outdoor markets are a great place to start.
2. The Bargain Hunter
It took me a few tries to get Matilda’s picture, because she was so busy looking around at all of the different booths. I am sure she was just shopping to get the very best deal!
3. The Artisan’s Assistant
Apollo’s job is to be his owner, Amber’s, right-hand man! He welcomes people into their booth/tent, makes the merchandise look even better (which was hardly possible, because it was so lovely), and I’m pretty sure he would run credit cards if it weren’t for that whole opposable thumb thing.
4. The One Who Reminds You Of Your Own
…and makes you feel like a complete jerk-face for not bringing him! My friend and I discovered Rusty checking out an antiques/vintage booth with his owner. We discussed how we would probably buy things just because our dog approved of them and seeing his adorable face made me miss my pup immediately. Outdoor markets are a great place to find kindred dog-loving spirits!
5. and 6. The Perfect Pair
Dillon and Oliver are cousins, but now brothers, that love going everywhere with their owners. These two might just have twice as much when they’re together. Their owner makes sure to carry treats in her pocket if she ever needs their attention quickly (which is a smart thing to do with so much going on at an outdoor market)!
