AUKLAND, New Zealand — We first brought you Cemetery Cat last Friday, when American singer Ryan Adams snapped a picture of the stray calling for fans to help. After a week-long search for her owners came up empty, Wednesday Adams is now up for adoption.
Ryan Adams was on tour in New Zealand and his tweet about #cemeterycat ignited a Twitter frenzy. He saw the black and white feline at Symonds St. Cemetery and reached out to his fans for help. It started trending and people worldwide were reposting the feline’s image.
Twitter user Rob Isaac and the rescue Lonely Miaow (LM) were particularly interested in helping. After many unsuccessful attempts, they were able to safely capture her. She was then taken in by LM rescue manager Sabine Kruekel, who has been looking after her.
“[Wednesday has got] a very nice character for a cat… she talks a lot,” she says. “Every morning when you open the door, she won’t shut up, a lot of meowing, lots of purring — she likes to stay in touch with her people during the day.”
LM hopes that potential adopters will come to the shelter this weekend and make a final decision by next week to find Wednesday Adams her forever home.
