It’s not fair that dogs get to have all the outdoor fun while cats are stuck at home sulking. That’s why First Caturday was organized to bring some outdoor delight to cats in Northern California.
Taking place in Dolores Park, San Francisco, the event was started last August as what the group describes:
“…the ritual of kitty gatherings is rumored to be an ancient and global one, it’s magnificence lost only in recent centuries. Although the origins are unknown, we are thankful this playful tradition remains alive in various forms worldwide, whether yearly in Belgium as the festival Kattenstoet, daily in esoteric Japanese parks, or here & now at Dolores Park.”
The event is a reprieve for cats stuck inside all day. It was a photo worthy event while the cats hung out in the park enjoying the sun.
The event was organized by First Caturday, and it’s first event was in August 2014. They hope to inspire the event to happen in other parks around the country. To follow First Caturday events visit them at their Facebook page.
