Lucy’s story began in Egypt, where she had the unfortunate beginnings of belonging to a less-than-wonderful owner. The Special Needs Animal Rescue and Rehabilitation (SNARR) organization is based here in the United States, but works with sister shelters all over the world. Last October, they got a call from one in Egypt.
The Egypt shelter was aware of a situation involving a young Pit bull being abused by its owner. She was undernourished, suffered from multiple infections, and her jaw had been broken. What made the situation most complicated was that the dog belonged to the shelter’s landlord. Together, SNARR and the Egypt shelter came up with a plan.

While the owner was away from the property, volunteers quietly got the pup away. Within no time, another volunteer had the pup en route to the United States, where she would head to Pennsylvania to start her new life. The shelter told the owner the dog had died, and the owner asked no questions.
Upon arriving in Pittsburgh, Lauren Connelly, SNARR’s foster coordinator, had the pup, newly named Lucy, rushed to the veterinarian, who confirmed the broken jaw and infections and began treatment immediately. In the present day, Lucy has undergone jaw surgery and has finally recovered from her injuries.

She is with a foster family in Pittsburgh, but is looking for her forever family. According to Connelly, Lucy loves to cuddle and give kisses, but may be timid around men she meets for the first time. Through SNARR’s resources, they can transport her anywhere in the US for the right home. If you think this is you, check out their Facebook page here: SNARR.
We’re so happy to see you finally smiling, Lucy!
